I get asked pretty frequently what my favorite brunch in the city is. The truth is, I don’t really brunch as often as you may think (mainly because I’m still mourning the loss of Little Pete’s, aaaaand I just can’t drink that early in the morning like I used to). But when I find a gem, I’ll definitely make an exception.
Growing up “down the shore” (though, I never started calling it that until I was a few years into my Philly life), outside of quick shopping trips to Cape May, dinners in Stone Harbor, and, naturally, nights at the Princeton in Avalon, we really never spent a ton of time at beaches that weren’t “ours.”
Since living in the city, I’ve discovered that everyone here has a different shore town they love, and for really great reasons. So when I was invited to check out The Shore House, North Wildwood’s hottest new motel, I could not wait to spend some time on a new (to me) little shore getaway!
Philly Beer Week is almost here! PBW is always a fun time in the city – a time to try your favorite brews with other people who love them just as much, expand your craft beer knowledge, and perhaps even check out some bearded brewers in the process, but that’s optional. There are hundreds of events happening from June 1st (this Friday!) to June 10th, but tbh, the Philly Loves Beer website is not the easiest to dig through. Lucky for you (seriously – this is more work than you’d think), I’ve scoured the site, read the event descriptions, and I’m here to share my top picks – whether you’re hanging with your buds, going on a date, or are looking for more of a family/pup appropriate event – I’ve got the best.
The way I see it, there are two types of people in the world: people who will absolutely love what I’m about to talk about, and people who will absolutely hate it. You can probably guess which camp this candid-loving, Instagram-obsessed gal falls into (#absolutelylove).
Momma’s Day is one week away! Picking out a gift for Mother’s Day is always a fun one for me, because, in my opinion, you have the freedom to get mom something a little more creative than birthdays and the December holidays. I’ve always found that things I can pick up around the city or at craft fairs give my Mother’s Day gifts a really personal touch, so I was super excited when Philly boutique Occasionette invited me in to stop in and pick out my top Mother’s Day picks from their shop to share with you.
I think we can all agree – the ultimate date is one where you just don’t want it to end. Where you find yourself going from place to place, with drinks and convo flowing, and lots of laughter in between. For me, exploring an area I don’t always get to is also key, so making special plans to run around in a new neighborhood totally makes these special date nights a dream.
Like any other good millennial out there, my dependency on Amazon Prime is real. There are actually so few things I need in life where a 2 day turnaround is not sufficient, so it’s become my real BFF over the past few years.
I’m a big believer in trying what’s out there on Amazon, and the internet in general. If I can get free shipping (and free returns, obviously), I’m always up for trying new brands, new sizes, new products, etc. I know it’s easy to get overwhelmed living this life, but I’ve found being up for trying something new is worth it (and the cash hold on your credit card) in the long run.
Happy New Year! I hope you all had the perfect Eve, followed by the best Day you could have had in the 15 degree weather Philadelphia provided us with. My plans of an Eagles tailgate and spending the entire day at the Mummers Parade were quickly shattered, but I still was v lucky to spend my days surrounded by my best buddies and so many carbohydrates.
As we embrace 2018 and I continue into my 6th year blogging about my little Philadelphia life, I thought I’d share five posts that I, truthfully, am really proud of. There are posts that just poured out onto the page, and others I spent a whole lot of time on. Posts that have sentiments that mean a lot to me, and others that are about pizza. Whether you’re new to Her Philly or have been reading all along, check out why these five posts mean so much to me, and let me know which speaks to you the most.
December is a big month for this blog. Every December, I celebrate a Her Philly birthday, but this year, it’s a big one: Five. Years. Five years of sharing my love for this city, and getting so much of it back from all of you, who love it just as much. Five years of adventures and experiences and friendships formed and dates documented. In all the ways I can’t believe it’s been five years, at the same time, it feels like it’s always been a part of me.
Happy Black Friday, ladies and gents! (Hi to all the guys/parents/friends who were sent this post for gifting ideas, welcome to the fam.). I hope you had a fabulous and filling Thanksgiving with people you love and have been working through your holiday gift lists. And in case you need a little more inspiration, I am here for you.Just like our Philly guy gift list, my usual 10 gift ideas were doubled, so there’s plenty of gift ideas, no matter what your budget. This year, I went with a lot of things I would like to receive (obviously), but branched out into different types of gifts, because it’s really so amazing the variety of super cool things made right here in Philly. Etsy is our friend, folks. Now, onto the gifts!Continue Reading…
