It’s a summer Wednesday in the city, and for many young Philadelphians out there, that means one thing: Center City Sips. For those new to the Philly scene, a brief precursor: Sips is a special summer happy hour “event” held every Wednesday (now through August 30) from 5-7pm at bars across the (center) city. Their standard gimmick is $5 cocktails, $4 wine, $3 beer and half-priced appetizers. But the thing about Sips is, it’s become such a “thing” (people really, really love it or absolutely hate it), that young professionals struggle every week to find a work appropriate outfit that could also pass for a going out one, youngins fill the inbound trains at rush hour in droves, and people call out sick Thursday morning because their hangover is so intense.
It’s so hot out, you guys. So very, very hot, that I took approximately nine showers this weekend and sprayed my hair with an unfathomable amount of dry shampoo just to get me through. Despite my dislike of this climate, I know there are some of you little beach babes out there who would have summer last forever if you had your way. So for you, I’ve rounded up five Philly lady summer staple spots that are carrying their popular programming into September (and a little beyond).
This summer in Philly has really been so exciting to me. I just spent my 4th of July weekend here, frolicking around the city with my sister, her puppy and some friends and had the best time . . . dining outside, laying around in the park, enjoying our city’s walkability factor, shopping for fresh flowers, making the best froyo combination that hit the spot, and just taking in all Philly has to offer.
Philly, you are the best city of all the cities. In honor of your loveliness, I’ve teamed up with four other fab Philly lady bloggers to bring our readers the ultimate list of all the things you must do, see, eat, drink, and visit in our fair city. A Philly bucket list, if you will, filled with unique things to make you say “hmmm that sounds interesting,” and more obvious things to make you go, “duh! Why have I not done that yet?” Below you’ll get my contribution to the list, and when you’re done, click over to the rest of the list on each blog. Here goes!
