{Tech + Beauty} Productivity at the Salon

I talk about hair a fair amount on this blog, and that’s really because there are so many amazing options in the city. I went to the same hairdresser from middle school through college, and when she and I both moved away, it was harder to find my new “place” than I imagined. There is, however, one Philly salon that I have visited a record number of times (three), so, it’s safe to say things are getting pretty serious. 😉

Andre Richard Salon (1218 Locust Street) is that place. The salon itself is adorable, with the sun constantly shining in the pretty interior, filled with super talented stylists. I really love how Andre Richard is so “about” Philly. The salon is constantly hosting events, running promotions, posting on social media, and interacting with the community. You can book online, which I need in my life, and their pricing is all really clearly broken down on their website, something I can appreciate in this semi-expensive city we live in.

My life has been so busy lately, that practically every minute is spent multi-tasking. I have opted for audiobooks so I can listen during my commute. I catch up on my favorite TV shows while eating dinner. And I basically work through emails and blog related things any chance I get. I’m not really good at relaxing, and when I do things like, go to the salon or get a pedicure, I need constant stimulation.

How to multitask using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 // Her Philly

I stopped by Andre Richard on a Saturday, and I was greeted with a very special productivity treat from Verizon Wireless: a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. I am an existing Verizon customer, so trying out their 4G was something I was interested in. All of my favorite apps were there: Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, Afterlight, Gmail, and my current gaming obsessing. So as my appointment began, I began exploring for myself how a 4G tablet could solve all of my anti-relaxation qualms.

While I had never used an Android device before, I caught on pretty quickly and pulled up Pinterest. ARS Master Stylist Amanda was doing my hair color, and I wanted to show her some inspiration. I was ready to go ginger again, and Amanda did an amazing job picking up on my favorite shades. Next, Master Stylist Eric did my cut and blow-out – a few inches off, some light layers, and a lot of gained knowledge (like how to properly blow-dry, ways to use curlers from the drugstore to add volume, and the fact that you’re supposed to wash your color-treated hair in the coldest water you can handle – who knew?!). All the while, I was emailing and browsing away, not the slightest feeling of guilt in the world.Philadelphia Blogger Emily Tharp // Her PhillyHair color by Andre Richard Salon in Philadelphia // Her Philly

My hair turned out fantastic. I always get compliments when I get my color done from Andre Richard, and this time has been no different. The Verizon 4G was pretty good in the salon – I was able to send tweets, check my email, and browse Pinterest super easily, but Snapchat was giving me a hard time and would never update (because who doesn’t want a snap of me sitting in the salon chair with all of that product n my hair?). I felt great about what I was able to work on mid-day on a Saturday, and would definitely consider investing in one of my own, perhaps as a gift to myself when I finally get my “to read” magazine stack to a manageable level.

So . . . what do you think – how do I look as a ginger? Thank you again to Verizon Wireless for the great opportunity.

Disclosure: Verizon Wireless covered my haircut/color, and provided me with a Samsung Tablet to try out during my visit.

After the mummers parade was rescheduled due to Saturday’s weather, we got blessed yesterday with 60 degrees & even some ☀️! ⁣
⁣
@jimmypennz is a member of the @twostreetstompers, so I joined him and his group stomping down 2nd Street after the official parade. It was great to be with family & friends, dance to the bands, and say “happy new year!” to neighbors & mums all day long. ⁣
⁣
I hope you all had a wonderful start to your 2022! 🖤⁣

🥾 @stompontour … I am OBSESSED! ⁣⁣ ⁣ We 🥾 @stompontour … I am OBSESSED! ⁣⁣
⁣
We go to a good number of shows and plays 🎭, and while I’ve always *heard* of STOMP, I never knew enough about it to pick it over something else. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Last night @kimmelculturalcampus invited me to STOMP’s opening night for their week here in Philly, and I’m officially here to say: pick it, choose it, STOMP IT. 🥾🥾🥾⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My mom & I absolutely LOVED the show. It’s basically 8 (incredibly good looking) men & women that play different “songs” and do different “skits” completely & fully with ordinary objects… like shopping carts, inner tubes, street signs, & so much more. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But it’s FUNNY! Without saying any words, we got to know the characters (especially @cityboypr’s 😂) and laughed between our whispered “OMGs” and “wooows.” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I am absolutely so thankful I got to see this iconic show and share my experience. It’s truly a must see - especially appropriate for musicians, dancers, and even kids! 🥁⁣⁣
⁣⁣
@stompontour has 7 shows left now through 1/2, so grab your mask & vax card & head over to see this show that will help you kick off 2022 with a bang! 💥😉⁣
