Happy Tuesday! I truly have not been properly dealing with the cold this month, so the below updates will sure be a whole lot of digital, and for that, I am sorry 😉 The cold can be too much if all you want is sunshine and a warm breeze washing over you. It can be hard in these months for people to deal with the freezing temperatures, especially if they do not have the money to heat their homes, it is lucky that now you can find cheaper heating suppliers like Bonded Oil as well as others, for example, so you can save on whatever supplies you need to heat your home, however, the heat doesn’t follow you as soon as you walk out of the house, so in that case, you’re on your own. In case you haven’t seen it yet – something pretty darn cool happened to me this month: I was featured on CBSPhilly! I think Kristina did a great job summing up the blog and I am so grateful to be featured. So with that . . . on to the rest of the updates on this Philly girl’s winter life!
Movie Club
Some of you may remember my post about starting your own movie club, and one year later my “club” is still achieving its goal: to get me (and my friends) out seeing more movies. I most recently saw (and loved) Boyhood, as well as The Imitation Game (also liked!), Birdman (leaving me with a very silly feeling for not being smart enough to “get” this flick), Whiplash (yes, please, Miles Teller), and The Theory of Everything (love. love. love.). To round out my award show list, I still need to see Wild, Foxcatcher, and American Sniper. I’m also kind of turning into my parents – seeing every flick before the Oscars. They’ve taught me well.
Restaurant Week
We all know I love Philadelphia Restaurant Week. This year, I’m heading to Barbuzzo (110 South 13th Street), Jamonera (105 South 13th Street), and of course, my trusty pick/favorite place ever: Zahav (237 Saint James Place). East Passyunk also just announced the dates for their Restaurant Week (February 22 – 28), which caused me to go into a frantic OpenTable booking spree in hopes of getting good times at the most popular places. I got a few – but I’m still looking over my options. 😉
Music Obsessions
After screaming at the computer several times, I finally secured tickets to Radio 104.5 Winter Jam this weekend. I am freaking excited, mostly because I adore Walk the Moon, but also because I had so much fun last year (in the snow!). I can’t wait to start getting to shows again. I was going to a few a month in the fall, but this winter has slowed things down. I just bought tickets to see Joe Pug at Boot & Saddle (1131 South Broad Street), which I’ve never been to, in April. In other music news, I’ve basically listened to Sia’s “Elastic Heart” 745456346x the past few weeks, and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
I don’t know if it’s the winter and just me not leaving my apartment anywhere near the amount I would like to, but I’m having some major writer’s block. If there are any topics you’d like to see me share my silly wisdom on, let a girl know . . . and help me get these creative juices flowing (because they are currently frozen solid). Have a great rest of your week, ladies! xx
