Blogging season is here! Covering new, cool things in Philadelphia (or even the oldies that I may just have not discovered yet) requires going to a lot of events (which I am so grateful for). Seriously, forcing myself to go out after work was one of the reasons I started this blog, and I can honestly say getting out there has helped me in so many aspects of my life. If you want to start a blogging adventure of your own, it might be worth visiting hostiserver.com for assistance regarding your web hosting needs. But, the one thing about events in this city (that I’ve found, anyway) is, when they’re happening, they’re all happening, so there is a lot to blog about. Although I’ve found setting up various social media platforms has also helped me out to share with my followers where I’m currently at. When I first started my blogging I knew I wanted to share my experiences on other platforms too, and I didn’t have the biggest following on them. Looking into real Instaforce reviews seems to have helped quite a few people to get more interaction on their pages, so I took influence from this! Anyways, after a very boring January, this last week was my first week back out with my normal schedule – and I had so much fun, and I just had to share it! Come along on a week in my life . . .

Bradamant Pop Up Shop “Confidence Is Sexy” Party
Bradamant (1605 Walnut Street) is a bodysuit brand that’s popped up with their first brick and mortar store on Walnut (in the old Bettie Page store . . . sigh). They have some pretty cool styles, all promising to keep your shirt tucked in and keep you from having to to mess with the ol’ re-tuck trick. At the party, we drank champagne, talked Philly favorites with some of the Bradamant team, and checked out some of the styles in store. Each of the guests took home a very sweet gift bag with goodies from L’Occitane (1606 Walnut Street), Blo/Out (1804 Chestnut Street), and of course, our own body suit to try! I’m excited to wear The Rookie with some high waisted skirts this spring.

Dataclysm with OkCupid’s Christian Rudder
This was an event I actually got the opportunity to attend thanks to my full-time job, but I loved it, so I needed to share anyway. Christian Rudder is cofounder and president of OkCupid, a site that I was, at one point, pretty active on. The talk centered around Christian’s new book: Dataclysm: Who We Are (When We Think No One’s Looking) and he discussed the massive amount of data OkCupid has access to, how that affects who you’re matched with on the site, and what conclusions we can draw from collecting data on such a large scale. It was really interesting, and I am definitely going to check out his book. The event was organized by the Arts & Business Council and took place at the String Theory Charter School (1600 Vine Street), a really gorgeous building.
Me N Mo Meatballs Grand Opening VIP & Media Party
Honestly, how can you not love meatballs? Well, if you’re a vegetarian, this could create a problem, but don’t worry, Me N Mo has you covered. Me N Mo (214 South Street) is a brand new meatball shop (yep), selling everything from chicken (with sage, shallots, and stuffed with fontina), to spicy pork, to beef, and yes, even veggie! At the media event, we got to sample all of the balls and enjoy some drinks from the bar. My favorite was the buffalo chicken – yum. Me N Mo is open for lunch & dinner Tuesday – Sunday.

PHLBloggers Personal Branding Workshop
I love any excuse to hang with other Philly blogger babes, so PHLBloggers has been a really perfect activity (thank you, Chrystina!). This month’s meetup took place at The Hive (222 Race Street), the lovely Melissa Alam’s all-female co-working space, and featured a talk from my good friend and blogging superwoman, Jessica Lawlor. We got some great advice from Jess while enjoying samples of the consistently delicious Little Baby’s Ice Cream (2311 Frankford Avenue). Some of my favorite takeaways were to reach out to those who recently followed you on social media and join put your blog stats & testimonials on your personal Linkedin page. Jess & I grabbed dinner and drinks afterwards for more blogging/dating talk – a very successful evening!
{Thursday – Saturday}
I took a few days off from blogging events to enjoy time with my friends and fully experience the amazing single girl Valentine’s Day I planned for myself – more on that later! 🙂
{Sunday}
I braved the cold and headed down to Theatre Exile (1340 South 13th Street) to meet my friend Alexander Kacala for a little Sunday theater. The show, The Whale, is really unique, with an extremely intimate set and such impressive actors. It’s about a 600 pound man named Charlie who, knowing he only has a short time left to live, reaches out to his (demon of a) daughter who he hasn’t seen in years. We got to stay afterwards for the Talk-Back and I really loved hearing from the actors. The play runs through the end of the month – I definitely recommend checking it out.
Thanks for coming along on my week of fun with me! What openings or events are you looking forward to this month? xx
