{Before I begin . . . HI. I’m sorry. I’m back. Thanks for sticking with me. I promise to have lots & lots of good stuff for you in the coming weeks. And now, here we go.}
I am a fan of one-of-a-kind things. Flea markets and thrift shops are basically the epitome of happiness for me. Not much pleases me more than when someone asks me where I got a certain thing, and I can reply with something other than “in a hazy blur of online shopping.” As you can imagine, my pride for my unique purchases is amped up a bit when the one-of-a-kind things are made in this city. And let me tell you, ladies: we’ve got some talented people living in Philadelphia.
On Mother’s Day, my family came into the city for lunch and some strolling. We’ve gone to Art Star (623 North 2nd Street) for years, so my Momma requested the Art Star Craft Bazaar down at Penn’s Landing. The vendors were truly amazing. Such a great mix; all different from each other, and all super cool. I snagged business cards from some of my favorite makers, and went through and pulled out some gems from Philly to share with you.
{Florence Spurling Studio} I’m pretty obsessed with these gorgeous, handmade glass bead necklaces and bracelets by maker Florence Spurling. Total statement piece envy.
{Yardsale Press} Fun and kitschy prints, totes, & tees, mostly revolving around food. Bryan Sculthorpe and his shop are based in Jackson, NJ, but I liked his stuff too much to not include it.
{Bonnie Kaye Studio} For all of your brightly colored napkin, tote, pouch, pillow, and wrapping paper needs, Philly-transplant Bonnie Kaye has you covered. Patterns make for a very pretty dinner party.
{Gourmet Candle} So, I smelled these candles, and guys . . . every single one smelled exactly like the name on the label. Maker Emerald Hill was super sweet at the event, and I’m really impressed with these.
{Urban Works Textiles} So much Philadelphia pride in this work by April Melchior, who grew up in the Philly burbs. I unfortunately don’t see the earrings I bought online, but they are g-e-m-s.
{Concrete Polish Jewels} Goooorgeous bold crystal jewelry. The maker, Angela Monaco, knows how to make studs look perfect. She also does custom work (like that ring – hello lady).
So much talent, right? I also zeroed in on a DC-based artist that made gorgeous food-inspired prints, Marcella Art + Illustration (I obviously took some home with me). If you’re looking for more Philly crafters, check out my Crafty Balboa recap. Happy Etsy-stalking! xx
