It’s so hot out, you guys. So very, very hot, that I took approximately nine showers this weekend and sprayed my hair with an unfathomable amount of dry shampoo just to get me through. I for one, can’t wait to be able to stop drenching myself in bug repellant. A site like https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/local/texas/schertz/ would fix all my troubles, if only ants and wasps could be eradicated forever! Despite my dislike of this climate and all the creepy crawlies that come with it, I know there are some of you little beach babes out there who would have summer last forever if you had your way. So for you, I’ve rounded up five Philly lady summer staple spots that are carrying their popular programming into September (and a little beyond).
1. The prettiest Sips ever: Drinks, music, and CRAFTS (yes) at Magic Garden’s Garden Sips (1020 South Street), featuring one of the best backdrops in all of Philadelphia. {Wednesday, September 14th}
2. Groove to some summer jams: If you can get yourself some free (yet in high demand) tickets to the last Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party of the season, CHVRCHES is guaranteed to make you shimmy on the sand. Also, why have I never heard of the Iration band before, cause that lead singer looks like someone I’d be into. {Sunday, September 18th}
3. Beverages with a breeze: The newest addition to the Philly beer garden scene this summer was Parks on Tap, a traveling outdoor event that hits up some of the coolest spots (you’ve never been allowed to legally drink at) in Fairmount and beyond. {Several dates now through Sunday, October 2nd}
4. Get a damn blendini: Before our favorite Philly (chain) treat shop closes for summer, head to the nearest Rita’s (1511 Spruce Street or 2124 South Street} and order a mint chocolate chip/chocolate blendini with Oreos. Trust me. {Both locations open now through October 9th}
5. One last place to drink outside, for good measure: In addition to the beverages, the PHS Pop Up Gardens (15th & South Street and 10th & Hamilton Streets) continue to offer events like DIY Succulent Workshops, Book Club, Fido Fridays, and more. {Programming scheduled through Monday, October 31st}
Bonus! If you’ve been itching for a chance to practice your aim all summer long, Urban Axes (2019 East Boston Street) is finally open (today!) and accepting walk-ins. When their website reads: “Axe Throwing. Like darts … only bigger and more satisfying,” you know it’s real.
