Happy weekend, ladies! I hope you’ve been enjoying a little more frequency in my posting since I’ve been back. I’m trying really hard to stick with it, and that’s why I knew, despite the fact that this week has been non-freakin-stop for me, I had to get this post out with all of the exciting things that have hit my inbox (and my life). So grab a LaCroix on this chilly (#yesssss) Saturday afternoon, buckle up, and let’s get into it!
WHAT FOOD DREAMS ARE MADE OF
Last Sunday, I was up early (after day drinking at Bloktoberfest and going to bed early, obviously), so I decided to check out the new Whole Foods (2101 Pennsylvania Avenue). I equipped myself with cold brew (grab your coffee from the ground level cafe before heading up to the 2nd floor groceries) that fit conveniently in the cup holder next to the purse spot (yes) in my cart. The store itself is really so beautiful. It’s shiny and new and just pretty. They were running some pretty great sales on the food, but my biggest excitement was the gorgeous lifestyle section, filled with clothes and really fancy bodycare products. I picked up a charcoal mask (among 45623 other things) that I’m loving. If you’re going, I recommend tackling the inside aisles first in case you get sidetracked (as I did) and all your cold items get a little less cold. Oh, and: the cheese. *heart-eye-emoji*
IT’S MOVIE SEASON
In case you haven’t heard, 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the Philadelphia Film Festival! Now through October 30th, grab tickets and check out some of the coolest flicks (aka the best of Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, and Cannes) of the year. These are some amazing movies directed by women (my picks: The Edge of Seventeen, Victoria, The Rehearsal, Miss Impossible & OBIT), and to top it off, I have a special deal for you from the Philadelphia Film Society! My Her Philly readers can use discount code HERPHILLY at checkout for $2 off regular-priced tickets (does not apply to Closing Night and Centerpiece Films). Get your tickets here and let me know what you end up seeing!
FALL LOCKS
All about the falllllll color (per usual). I was recently invited by Andre Richard Salon (1218 Locust Street) to stop in for a complimentary fall hair update. It was my second time seeing Joey V, who has absolutely mastered my ideal color. I loved it so much, I stopped to take these selfies in the sunlight on my way home. To all the strangers who witnessed my photo shoot, I apologize.
ADIDAP (PIZZA, THAT IS)
The amount of pizza place openings that have been hitting my inbox are pretty out of control. &pizza (1430 Walnut Street) is new to the block and has a menu filled with v creative, v fancy pizza combos. Blaze Pizza (3400 Lancaster Avenue) opened yesterday and hosted a free pizza day which I am very sad to have missed. Pizzeria Vetri Square Pie recently opened in the brand new URBN super-center at KOP and I can’t wait to get my hands on those slices. And Kono Pizza, which is essentially pizza in a DOUGH CONE, is now open at the Cherry Hill Mall, as well. In pizza we trust.
DATE UPDATE
I freakin loved and appreciated the feedback on my last post. For those of you inquiring, we ended up going to Shake Shack (2000 Sansom Street) for the quick food option of beers and burgers, followed by a very funny comedy show at Helium (2031 Sansom Street). We were sitting in the back, so commentary was able to be shared between sets. It was a pretty successful date agenda – highly recommend.
BLOG HOUSEKEEPING
A few last things! First, as I’m just starting attending weddings for real, navigating the gifting angle has been a struggle for me, and I think it may be for some of you, too. I am looking for ladies to talk to me about the ins and outs of wedding gifting – engagement party, bridal shower, and bachelorette, too – for a potential blog post. Shoot me an email if you’re interested.
Second: December marks Her Philly’s 4th birthday (!!!). For the past three years, I’ve hosted 4-5 daily giveaways to celebrate the occasion, but I’m thinking about switching it up this year. What do you guys think? One big giveaway? Different types of prizes? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments, pretty please.
Okay, that’s it for this Saturday afternoon sizzle. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, ladies! xx
