I teamed up with BumbleBFF on this post to share their new app & an upcoming Philly event with all of you!
Picking up and moving to a new city is a daunting task by itself (it’s my reminder that, yes, I am a hoarder). But moving to a city without the comfort your best lady pals close by could be straight up terrifying for (most) women. When I first moved to Philly, I was 22. I had the guy I was dating, and literally zero female friends in the city. In my quest for lady pals (and some of you have met me in person so you know this to be true), my awkward moments shone through. I remember reading these articles about how to not-creepily approach a potential new friend at places like the yoga studio or the grocery store. That was not for me.
My solution ended up being to start this blog (Philly blogger friends, I love ya!), but even getting involved in something like an already-established club can be a little scary when you’re flying solo. That is why I love the creation of BumbleBFF. The official statement goes like this: BumbleBFF is the ‘for friend’ function inside the Bumble app where like-minded ladies can meet and make plans together. BumbleBFF brings together women (and men) looking to grow their group of friends, whether they’re new to town or just wanted to expand their current happy hour crew.
So, just like online dating in the city, using a service like BumbleBFF expands your market and serves you up people looking for the same thing as you (no more awkward approaching at yoga or grocery shopping). I went on yesterday to do some potential-friend swiping, and my heart was so. full. Ladies new to the city. Ladies who’s friends are getting married or having babies. They like brunch. They like wine. They like the Phillies. They like breweries. Some are single, some are married (aka they are truly using this app just for BFFs! I love that). They have freakin cool jobs. And they’re all on this app, waiting for potential lady pals.
So, to help the ladies of Philly get out and try BumbleBFF, they planned a special, v cool and v trendy event this Sunday, 11/13 . . . Philadelphia’s first-ever Ladies Axe Throwing Tournament at Urban Axes (2019 East Boston Street)! SliCE’s new organic location in Fishtown (431 East Girard Avenue) is providing pizza. There will be beer (the event is 21+), or you can also BYO. Registration for the tournament is compliments of BumbleBFF and ladies just have to show ID and their BumbleBFF profile at the door. Sign up to reserve a place in the tournament (the event runs from 1-4pm), RSVP for the Facebook event, and come say hi and meet some new buddies. I hope to see some of you there! xx
