Momma’s Day is one week away! Picking out a gift for Mother’s Day is always a fun one for me, because, in my opinion, you have the freedom to get mom something a little more creative than birthdays and Christmas. Of course, personalized gifts like custom name necklaces (collares personalizados) are always a thoughtful gift to give, and can be really beautiful statement pieces. Personally, I always find that an experience is the best thing to get because what could be better than spending more time with your mum doing something that you both enjoy? Even if it’s just going out for a meal, or maybe going to a spa? If you both have a wild side, why not go for a helicopter ride with a company like Jettly?
Making memories together is the best thing you can do, and you’ll cherish the time you spent together even more. Years later you will recollect these memories and that could bring a bunch of smiles and maybe a bit of happy tears on your cheeks. Moreover, if you have pictures of such memories taken you can as well make them into something like memory t-shirt quilts and that could make a heart-warming gift. As another option, if your mother has a pet that she loves from the core of her heart, you can take a picture of the pet and customize it into an item that you can give her. For instance, if you have a picture of your mother with her pet, you can think about getting her Personalized pet Photo gifts that she might adore.
If you’re a little pushed for time this year, however, don’t worry, you still have options. I’ve discovered that things I can pick up around the city or at craft fairs give my Mother’s Day gifts a really personal touch. Anything that you know your mum would love is perfect, so I was super excited when Philly boutique Occasionette invited me in to stop in and pick out my top Mother’s Day picks from their shop to share with you.
Occasionette has two locations – one here in Philly (1825 East Passyunk Avenue) and one over the bridge in Collingswood, NJ (724 Haddon Avenue). The shop is filled (like, head-to-toe) with adorable, fun, and aesthetically pleasing knick knacks – basically a gift giver’s dream. I found everything to be really reasonably priced and the perfect location if you want to grab a few special things on a budget.
My top Mother’s Day gift picks
Once I walked around the shop a few times, I started to zero in on a few gift “themes” I think any momma would love to receive on Sunday. All of these gifts are available in-store at Occasionette – so if you’re still on the hunt, go shop around this week! PLUS: if you’d like to try for a shot at winning ALL OF THESE PRIZES (worth $150!!), visit me over on Instagram to enter a little giveaway, courtesy of Occasionette!
To say what you want to say
- Best Mom, Best Friend Card ($5)
- Magical Momma Card ($5)
There are so many amazing cards in the shop, even a full wall of ones dedicated to your momma, but these two were my faves.
To help her accessorize
- Marbled Dish ($10)
- Tortoise Earrings ($16)
I love this pairing for both the momma who always asks you what accessories she should wear with her outfits, and the momma who has everything. Who couldn’t use these earrings and a pretty dish to put them in?
To help her entertain
- Bee’s Wrap ($18)
- Tea Towels ($25 for two)
- Gold Dipped Cheese Board ($28)
The cutessssst gift for the mom who loves to host! This gold cheese board immediately caught my eye (duh), and the tea towels (with wine & cheese theme) are such gorgeous quality (and made by the owner of Occasionette!). Bee’s Wrap is pretty much the coolest thing – reusable food wrappers to save all the unfinished cheese (if I was at this party though, there would likely not be much to wrap).
To help her relax
- Sea Salt + Lavender Lotion ($18)
- Twilight Mint Caffeine-free Tea ($10)
- Magnolia Home Soy Candle ($9.50)
All moms deserve a little extra encouragement to take it easy. This lotion comes in many scents, but I love the lavender for nighttime. Occasionette is the only shop in Philly to carry the Chip & Joanna Gaines Magnolia Home line (which my mom is a huge fan of), and this candle, paired with some mint nighttime tea, round out this soothing gift.
This only skims the surface of the gems up for sale at Occasionette! Don’t forget to head over to my Instagram to enter for a chance to win ALL of these gifts! Let me know in the comments below which gift set your mom would love the most.
Disclosure: I was gifted these items (+ an extra set to giveaway to you!). All opinions are my own.
