Growing up “down the shore” (though, I never started calling it that until I was a few years into my Philly life), outside of quick shopping trips to Cape May, dinners in Stone Harbor, and, naturally, nights at the Princeton in Avalon, we really never spent a ton of time at beaches that weren’t “ours.”
Since living in the city, I’ve discovered that everyone here has a different shore town they love, and for really great reasons. So when I was invited to check out The Shore House, North Wildwood’s hottest new motel, I could not wait to spend some time on a new (to me) little shore getaway!
I started following The Shore House on Instagram long before I knew I’d be staying over, and I was obsessed. One look and you’ll see how this place is revolutionary to the beach motel game.
When I thought about who I’d be bringing along on my pre-4th of July getaway, I knew my two best gal pals (aka my mother & sister) would be the perfect guests. But, as soon as I saw that TSH was dog-friendly, we planned for the two pups of the family – Ellie & Henry – to join us.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Kevin, the owner and designer behind the entire space. Kevin bought the property and started working on it early this year, and the transformation is truly incredible.
Around each turn of our one bedroom unit (which typically sleeps 5, and runs ~$320 ish per night in the busy beach season) was a new little detail. The artwork was carefully curated. The appliances were brand new, yet perfectly vintage. The beds were spotless and comfortable (I often think that places like this should really have looked on somewhere like Sleepify before choosing their mattresses, but these beds were perfect). The products in the bathroom smelled heavenly. And the bar cart was stocked with mixers and utensils to fix the perfect drink. It was clean and bright, and did I mention dog-friendly? 🙂
After settling in and exploring our room, we headed downstairs for a little party hosted by TSH. The way all the units surround the common outdoor space (there’s 12 apartments total – mostly 1 and 2 bedrooms, but there is a 3, sleeping up to 12!) made me think how perfect it would be for a bachelorette party, or even a small wedding at the shore. There was tons of seating, fun outside games, and a nice big grill. The wonderful Brandon Szeker, publicist for TSH, made ~shore~ 😉 our stay was as comfortable as possible (and delivered cheese and crackers to the party goers – very important) – thank you, Brandon!
And that shore town I wanted to explore? The location of TSH is so convenient, we got to check out so much of it! For lunch, we took a very quick drive over to North Shore Bar (don’t sleep on the Orange Crush drink), and for breakfast the next day, my mom and I rode the motel’s complimentary bikes to the Market on 24th Street for avocado toast and cold brew. We were literally a block and a half from the beach and boardwalk, so at night, we took a quick stroll down to the famous Mack’s Pizza (which we carried back to our room and enjoyed at our cute little bistro table with some wine). In the morning, we didn’t have to drag our chairs forever (also provided by TSH if you don’t feel like taking up space in your car on the way down) and were able to settle in at the nice, calm, freeeee North Wildwood beach. It was really so nice.
There’s even a huge dog park right on the beach only a few blocks away!
Overall, our stay at The Shore House was an ideal beach getaway for me and the gals (+ little Hank). You can book your stay at TSH here (FYI – there’s a 2 night minimum for the rest of the summer) or just stay inspired by their aesthetic on Instagram.
Thank you to The Shore House for hosting us! All opinions are my own.
