Staying at North Wildwood’s Shore House: The Swim Club

Summer is “officially” less than a week away, and shore season is here. While some are #blessed with homes they can escape to at the Jersey shore, for the majority, finding a good place to hang your hat during your beach trip is as important of a step as packing your SPF. And while a lot of weeklong rentals are popping up with an “updated” look and feel, many options can feel a little… dated. Enter: The Shore House & Swim Club.

Back in 2018, I was invited to stay at Philly resident, ex-yoga instructor, and all-around great guy Kevin Reardon‘s first property, The Shore House (422 East 16th Avenue, North Wildwood, NJ). I stayed with my mom, sister, and their two dogs, because yes – The Shore House is fully pup-friendly. We were so impressed and had such a fun time (if you’re interested in staying, make sure to go back and read that post, too!), so I was thrilled when TSH invited me back again (on my birthday weekend, no less!) to check out their newest property, right next door, The Swim Club (1600 Ocean Avenue, North Wildwood, NJ).

The property used to be The Sandpiper Motel (I’m sure a lot of you remember it!) and TSH purchased and renovated it in basically 3 months. For this complimentary visit, I got to bring Jim along, and we had a great time exploring the property and North Wildwood. Let’s get into it!

The Hotel

Rooms

The rooms over at The Swim Club are beautiful. Clean and brand new, with gold fixtures and wood floors (because is there anything worse than hotel carpet?). The kitchenette has a big, big fridge/freezer with plenty of space for your drinks & snacks, microwave, Keurig, sink, utensils, and even a stove top.

This big table is absolutely perfect for friends gathering around for pizza takeout from Mack’s or pregaming with a drinking game. There is a full-length mirror (I despise when hotels leave this out!!!) and the beds are so comfortable (and you can make it pitch black in the bedroom – which I love).

The bathroom is a little tight, so keep that in mind when packing your toiletry bags, but it comes equipped with lovely-smelling Grown Alchemist products. Another tip to keep in mind – there is no closet – but there are shelves and a rack (with hangers!) for those who love to unpack.

Pool

I mean – how could the pool not be the true selling point of The Swim Club? This aesthetically-pleasing swimming pool is open from 10am-7pm and is available to guests staying at either property. It’s also BYOB – and you can get ice buckets and plastic drinkware from the hotel. We loved taking a dip after time on the beach and it was such a pretty visual to wake up to right out our window.

Building Perks

On top of an incredible location and the pool, The Shore House and Swim Club makes every effort to make your stay comfortable and convenient. Each room is appointed one parking spot for convenience. Everything is contactless, but there is a 24 hour concierge available by text if you need anything. And there is this Alexis Rose mural. 🙂

Inside the lobby (with some cute Shore House gear for sale), there are umbrellas for guests to use. Heading to the beach? You can borrow beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels right from the hotel (so convenient).

Up for some yoga? I absolutely love this perk. TSH partnered with OMM Yoga Studio to teach yoga at 9:30am every Saturday in TSH courtyard. Classes are $20, and that includes a mat, towel, and a water. The best part? Yoga is available to anyone, not just guests! You can sign up on the OMM Yoga Studio website.

Speaking of – the outdoor spaces at The Swim Club are so great, too. There was a grand opening party while we were there for the influencer preview, but with the fire pits and big couches – it’s the perfect place to hang with your friends. But, keep in mind you party animals, quiet hours are from 11:30pm-7am.

Next Door

The original The Shore House hotel, located truly a 20 second walk away from our room at The Swim Club, has one, two, and three bedroom apartments, sleeping up to 8. You are able to share amenities fully, so I was so excited to see the new Amberella installation, comfy couches, huge table, and all the bikes!

North Wildwood spots to try

The Surfing Pig

Our first night in North Wildwood, my sister picked Jim and I up and we took a (very short) car ride over to The Surfing Pig (231 West 10th Ave, North Wildwood, NJ). We had put our name in our their Yelp waitlist but there was quite a wait on a Friday night, so we got drinks at their bar and stood out back. The drinks were delicious (they even gave me a complimentary one for my birthday!) and once we did sit down, the BBQ was yummy and the views were truly stunning.

The Salty Mermaid

Jim & I visited The Salty Mermaid (2507 Delaware Avenue, North Wildwood, NJ) for lunch the next day. I absolutely loved the atmosphere for their outdoor dining and would highly recommend their Blackened Mahi sandwich.

Beach

And then of course, you have the beach! The Shore House is in eyeshot of North Wildwood’s *free* beaches. It’s really just the perfect location.

After the mummers parade was rescheduled due to Saturday’s weather, we got blessed yesterday with 60 degrees & even some ☀️! ⁣

@jimmypennz is a member of the @twostreetstompers, so I joined him and his group stomping down 2nd Street after the official parade. It was great to be with family & friends, dance to the bands, and say “happy new year!” to neighbors & mums all day long. ⁣

I hope you all had a wonderful start to your 2022! 🖤⁣

🥾 @stompontour … I am OBSESSED! ⁣⁣ ⁣ We 🥾 @stompontour … I am OBSESSED! ⁣⁣

We go to a good number of shows and plays 🎭, and while I’ve always *heard* of STOMP, I never knew enough about it to pick it over something else. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Last night @kimmelculturalcampus invited me to STOMP’s opening night for their week here in Philly, and I’m officially here to say: pick it, choose it, STOMP IT. 🥾🥾🥾⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My mom & I absolutely LOVED the show. It’s basically 8 (incredibly good looking) men & women that play different “songs” and do different “skits” completely & fully with ordinary objects… like shopping carts, inner tubes, street signs, & so much more. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But it’s FUNNY! Without saying any words, we got to know the characters (especially @cityboypr’s 😂) and laughed between our whispered “OMGs” and “wooows.” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I am absolutely so thankful I got to see this iconic show and share my experience. It’s truly a must see - especially appropriate for musicians, dancers, and even kids! 🥁⁣⁣
⁣⁣
@stompontour has 7 shows left now through 1/2, so grab your mask & vax card & head over to see this show that will help you kick off 2022 with a bang! 💥😉⁣
