{Philadelphia Restaurant Week} Zahav

Living in this city, answering the “what’s your favorite restaurant?” question is a tough one. I mean, obviously we are extremely lucky that Philly is regarded as such a fabulous city for dining . . . but the judgement one could get for the wrong restaurant choice is pretty substantial.

Lucky for me, I have Zahav (237 Saint James Place). {Disclaimer: If you’re about to click through that link, please beware, the site has some groovy autoplay music that has startled me approximately 45 times this month alone.} I have loved Zahav since the first time I tried it, and it truly has yet to disappoint me since. I always go in craving my favorites, but come out in love with something I never thought I’d try.

{Philadelphia Restaurant Week} Barbuzzo

Today I’m coming to you with a little mid-Restaurant Week post to tell you about the glory that is Barbuzzo (110 South 13th Street). In all of my Philadelphia dining experiences, I had only been to Barbuzzo once for lunch. I knew this year I was making my reservations early, and I was so happy this little place did not let me down.

Joined by my friends Eric and Frannie, we stopped by for dinner on Thursday. I’ve heard that Barbuzzo can feel crowded, but we were seated towards the front and were just fine. The cocktails and wine list looked great, but after glancing at the menu, I knew it was going to be a brew night for me. We were greeted with complimentary grilled bread (a common theme of my meal) and sheep’s milk ricotta drizzled with EVOO. I don’t fight these things.

How To Conquer Philadelphia Restaurant Week

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Philadelphia Restaurant Week, but I am not one of them. I thoroughly enjoy any excuse to get out to some of my favorite places in Philly. Restaurant Week dinners become traditions amongst friends, simple date ideas, and an easy way to further explore our city. Several years and many $35 dinners later, I have figured out a few ways to get the most out of one of my favorite times of year.

My first trip to LBI with Fearless Restaurants

I had never been to Long Beach Island (or LBI, as we will henceforth be referring to this pretty island of beach towns) before. As you may remember, I grew up at another beach, so we didn’t really venture to other shore towns when I was younger (I have since started to expand my locales, including exploring North Wildwood at The Shore House last summer).

Trip to LBI

You probably know Fearless Restaurants, they’re a restaurant group with spots in Philly (Moshulu, Louie Louie, and White Dog Cafe), the Main Line (Autograph Brasserie and the other White Dog locations), and of course, on LBI! They invited some ~influencers~ to check out what the summer life is like at their beachy home, and I was thrilled to see what they had in store!

5 Philly Ladies Share Their Favorite Philadelphia Restaurant Picks

It’s almost that time again: Center City District’s Philadelphia Restaurant Week is right around the corner (Saturday, September 23rd to Friday, October 5th to be exact)! In case you’re unfamiliar, CCDRW is a Philly tradition. Restaurants all over Center City offer prix-fixe menus (three-course lunch for $20 or three-course dinner for $35), giving diners a chance to try all the spots they’ve been meaning to get to, or even just discover a new restaurant because one dish caught their eye. It’s a really fun time to get out & explore Philly.

It’s been awhile since I covered Philadelphia Restaurant Week on the blog, so I knew I wanted to give you guys an updated take (with plenty of time to make your reservations, of course!). But even for me, my years of going out to a few dinners in a two week span have significantly dwindled (life, people!). So, in order to give you a fresh take, I asked five incredible Philadelphia women to give me their top picks instead!

Your Philly Beer Week Cheat Sheet

It’s time to welcome an unofficial start to summer (with some booze, of course): Philly Beer Week is here!

Some of us are used to using a beer delivery service and having our favorite beers delivered to our front door. However, this beer festival gives us all the opportunity to try new beers and get a taste for some new flavors.

Now, if you’re anything like me, sorting through this massive list of events and picking the few that you’d like to make time for is a high-pressure situation and involves a lot of time that’s pretty fleeting at the moment. Another true life fact: in my years in Philly, I’ve never even been to an official Philly Beer Week event! Mostly because I had to look up a third beer type to list above and don’t want to embarrass myself in front of bearded, beer-loving men, but don’t be mistaken: PBW is for everyone!

Moving on, Philly Beer Week might be one of the best beer events you might attend, so it would only be fitting to go mentally prepared. Now through June 12th, our city will be flowing with the best ales, lagers, and stouts alike in a celebration of all things beer, and the excitement is real. This, coupled with brunches and dinners might just make your week. Considering that there may be many first-timers, there may be more beer to drink than you imagine. You could prepare yourself in case you have one too many beers and end up with a bad hangover the next day by getting yourself a hangover kit or just keeping some ORS and antacids handy. In addition to that, you could eat a hearty breakfast to move on to the next series of events the following day. Let the fun continue!

To help us all sort through the list of events, I asked the Philly Beer Week team to narrow down their favorites to a Top 5 list for PBW beginners (you’ll see those labeled with {PBW Starter Pack} below), plus I threw in 5 of my own picks that just seemed too amazing to leave out. Check out the list, and let me know which #PBW2016 events you’re heading to this year. Happy drinking! xx

How To Spend A Weekend In Philadelphia With Your Parents

My parents have been big fans of Philly my whole life. We’ve been taking hour long car rides for overnight stays in this pretty city forever, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that now that I actually live here, things really haven’t changed. My parents recently came up to spend the weekend in Philadelphia, and instead of winging it and/or hitting up our favorite places like we normally do, we put together a few plans that provided us with an awesome weekend itinerary. First stop: boozing it up with my buddies!

We headed over to Yards Brewing (901 North Delaware Avenue) with a few of my girlfriends to tour the brewery. Yards offers free tours on the weekends, and even if you only have a tiny interest in beer, this stuff is pretty cool to see.

{Quick Trip} Boston Girls’ Weekend

Since it’s fall and the weather is lovely and getaways are really needed this time of year, I really wanted to go on a vacation with my friends. We left with modest goals: see good friends and eat good food. And for only a 48 hour stay, we certainly achieved those goals.

{Birthday Giveaway Week} Win A Gift Card To Serafina

Happy (late) Friday! Last night I went to dinner with my BFF Kelly, my pops & his buds, and as we were finishing our meal, approximately eight Eagles players popped up from a few tables away. I’m sure you all know the huge crush I have on Jason Kelce, so as I panicked like a middle school girl, Kelly dragged me up and we asked him for a photo. Love ya, Jason!

My final birthday giveaway is a pretty wonderful one. Serafina (130 South 18th Street) is my go-to restaurant in Rittenhouse. Whenever I’m bopping in the park and need a good drink and some amazing food, I’m there. It’s consistently delicious, and I love sitting outside right on Sansom Street in the spring & summer. If you follow Her Philly on Twitter, you’ve seen me tweeting away about my visits to Serafina . . . so I can’t waiiiit for you to try it too! For my final birthday giveaway, enter for a chance to win a $75 gift card to Serafina – amazing!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Good Day Philadelphia

HP on the Gram

Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! 🥰 I have b Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! 🥰 I have been trying to do more things as a single lady that I’d like to do if I had a partner. And also recognize all the things that make me a good partner. I’m okay being solo today (well, with Putter of course 😉), but I deserve some love today, too. So here’s my love letter to me. 🖤

Emily, I love how you never go somewhere new without researching the best spots. I love how you’re not afraid of color and all. the. prints. I love how close you are with your family. I love how you’re pretty funny (if you do say so yourself). I love how you try new things, even when they scare you. I love how you truly have experienced growth as an adult since going to therapy. I love how you discovered “I’m doing the best I can” is really good enough. And I love how you are starting to learn what you deserve. Let’s get it. 🖤
