I love fall (obviously, I talk about it a freakin ton), because everyone comes back from the beach and that means there are a lot more scheduled events and just general fun to be had. I’ve been living in Philly for over five years now (and had this blog for almost four), so we could say I’ve participated in my fair share of outings. With that being said, there are three events I will never, ever miss, and one of them happens to be coming right up: Bloktoberfest! (!!!)
Your Philly Beer Week Cheat Sheet
It’s time to welcome an unofficial start to summer (with some booze, of course): Philly Beer Week is here!
Some of us are used to using a beer delivery service and having our favorite beers delivered to our front door. However, this beer festival gives us all the opportunity to try new beers and get a taste for some new flavors.
Now, if you’re anything like me, sorting through this massive list of events and picking the few that you’d like to make time for is a high-pressure situation and involves a lot of time that’s pretty fleeting at the moment. Another true life fact: in my years in Philly, I’ve never even been to an official Philly Beer Week event! Mostly because I had to look up a third beer type to list above and don’t want to embarrass myself in front of bearded, beer-loving men, but don’t be mistaken: PBW is for everyone!
Moving on, Philly Beer Week might be one of the best beer events you might attend, so it would only be fitting to go mentally prepared. Now through June 12th, our city will be flowing with the best ales, lagers, and stouts alike in a celebration of all things beer, and the excitement is real. This, coupled with brunches and dinners might just make your week. Considering that there may be many first-timers, there may be more beer to drink than you imagine. You could prepare yourself in case you have one too many beers and end up with a bad hangover the next day by getting yourself a hangover kit or just keeping some ORS and antacids handy. In addition to that, you could eat a hearty breakfast to move on to the next series of events the following day. Let the fun continue!
To help us all sort through the list of events, I asked the Philly Beer Week team to narrow down their favorites to a Top 5 list for PBW beginners (you’ll see those labeled with {PBW Starter Pack} below), plus I threw in 5 of my own picks that just seemed too amazing to leave out. Check out the list, and let me know which #PBW2016 events you’re heading to this year. Happy drinking! xx
{Quick Trip} Boston Girls’ Weekend
Since it’s fall and the weather is lovely and getaways are really needed this time of year, I really wanted to go on a vacation with my friends. We left with modest goals: see good friends and eat good food. And for only a 48 hour stay, we certainly achieved those goals.

5 Things to Do in Philadelphia This Fall
I seriously can not believe it is the end of freaking September. I just can’t. While I have had something to do outside of work every. single. day this month (resulting in approximately 14 loads of laundry I need to do, amongst other things), I do think the weeks ramping to fall are so fun. I love this season. My favorite perks include: the fact that it is now socially acceptable to wear tights, the many excuses to go shopping, and lots and lots of festivals. Because there are so many fun ones coming up (festivals, not tights), I’ve picked five of my favorites to share with you.
Goose Island Migration Week
My journey to the craft beer side of the world has been a long, and at times, hoppy one (I’m sorry). After one too many hangovers from my sugary hard cider obsession, I started giving some new brews a whirl. And, for the most part, so far, so good! I was really excited when Goose Island Beer Co. invited me to their Migration Week event in Philly. On top of being able to try beers from a great brewery, it’s always a fun event when I get to hang with the Fashion of Philly duo and the hysterical Bacon & Legs.
