11 Philly Things to do with Your Work Buds

As most of you know, Her Philly is not my full-time gig. I work with a v fun and v hip group of coworkers who, luckily, enjoy hanging out with each other outside of work. Of course, there are frequent and necessary happy hours and dinner dates, but sometimes, when you need those “team building” events, it’s hard to come up with something everyone agrees on. Our team recently grew, and coming up with something everyone wanted to do proved to be a little more difficult than our boss thought. So, a few of my coworkers (thank you, Alex, Chelsea, Tim & Zanaya!) came up with some great ideas and we put it to a vote. I added a few extras to the list, but our winner is still in this lineup – any guesses? Philly Team Building + Coworker Outing IdeasContinue Reading…

What’s in my Philly Fridge

Being off on a weekday is really amazing for me for three main reasons: morning Netflix in bed, no lines at my apartment’s laundry machine, and less humans at the grocery store. My grocery store of choice is, of course, the brand new and beautiful Philadelphia Whole Foods (2101 Pennsylvania Avenue), and being able to swoop in and out of that place as crowd-free as possible is a true #blessing. In addition to adoring everything about the Philly dining scene, I’m always fascinated by what people buy at grocery stores (I shared my things you gotta try at Whole Foods three whole years ago and the obsession has not ceased). So, after one particularly indulgent midday trip, I thought I’d share what I have going on in this fridge of mine.

Playing Chef for a Day at #FLKeysCookOff

Florida Keys Cook Off in Philadelphia

I’m not really what people would call “a good cook.” I am usually good for one thing (that I find on Pinterest, that’s made with tater tots and cheese and bacon, and pretty much impossible to mess up) to bring to a potluck brunch, inevitably causing me to seek validation from my cohorts at every turn. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy cooking from time-to-time, but it’s just not a natural thing for me. So, when I was asked to participate in The Florida Keys‘ Philadelphia Cookoff earlier this month, I was sliiiightly nervous.Continue Reading…

Goose Island Migration Week

My journey to the craft beer side of the world has been a long, and at times, hoppy one (I’m sorry). After one too many hangovers from my sugary hard cider obsession, I started giving some new brews a whirl. And, for the most part, so far, so good! I was really excited when Goose Island Beer Co. invited me to their Migration Week event in Philly. On top of being able to try beers from a great brewery, it’s always a fun event when I get to hang with the Fashion of Philly duo and the hysterical Bacon & Legs.

Good Day Philadelphia

HP on the Gram

Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! 🥰 I have b Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! 🥰 I have been trying to do more things as a single lady that I’d like to do if I had a partner. And also recognize all the things that make me a good partner. I’m okay being solo today (well, with Putter of course 😉), but I deserve some love today, too. So here’s my love letter to me. 🖤

Emily, I love how you never go somewhere new without researching the best spots. I love how you’re not afraid of color and all. the. prints. I love how close you are with your family. I love how you’re pretty funny (if you do say so yourself). I love how you try new things, even when they scare you. I love how you truly have experienced growth as an adult since going to therapy. I love how you discovered “I’m doing the best I can” is really good enough. And I love how you are starting to learn what you deserve. Let’s get it. 🖤
