It’s no secret that when I find a show I like, I get addicted. Ever since I first saw HBO’s GIRLS, I have been kind of obsessed. I love each of the female leads and laugh along with the unbelievably realistic jokes. I have been counting down the months until Season 3, so I was ecstatic when HBO invited me to the Philadelphia #GIRLSnight Premiere earlier this week. Girls is one of them shows that reaffirms your faith in good TV, especially in an era where a lot of the biggest shows are on Netflix. However, a large number of people are still left feeling as though they don’t get their money’s worth when it comes to cable TV since there is so much more content elsewhere. Although, not everybody realises that there are ways in which you can save money on your cable bill without having to get rid of it completely. These companies tend to keep these as secret as possible, but there is more information here you can check out if you like the idea of saving money.
The event was held at Prince Music Theatre (1412 Chestnut Street) – an absolutely gorgeous space. Before the screening, guests were treated to a reception, featuring music from GIRLS soundtrack favorites (well mine at least) like Robyn & Fun.
The food at the event was delicious and the drinks were obviously bomb.com.
My favorite part of the reception was the photobooth. It took some maneuvering, but after we got the hang of the placement, we were just part of the crew.
My younger sister Lindsay accompanied me to the event. I credit her with getting me started on most TV shows I become obsessed with, so after she had to miss the Game of Thrones premiere last year because she was not 21 yet, she was obviously the best date I could have asked for for the night.
After watching a live stream of the NYC premiere’s red carpet (the ‘girls’ all looked fab!), we settled down in the theatre (with beers!) for a back-to-back episode screening. Let me tell you – the first two episodes are a riot. My favorite line so far happens in the first five minutes, so just be on the lookout for that. I was so happy to see Hannah, Marnie, Shosh & Jessa together again and can’t wait for the rest of the season. I would recommend everyone watch this series as I absolutely love it! If you’re wondering can you get hbo NZ, and other parts of the world, the answer is yes! So not only will you be able to enjoy this great show, you’ll be able to enjoy many others too.
Most people think about Game of Thrones when they hear about HBO. In fact, it’s probably one of the most popular television programs to grace the network. So many of my friends have asked me where they can get cable in my area just so they can watch this boxset. Yes, that’s how big it is! They’ve heard about it, and are currently deciding where their loyalties lie amongst the characters, and who they like and dislike. So, I’m sure I’ll be hearing about their opinions very soon. But that’s the beauty of this network, there are so many things to watch that you’ll never get bored.
A big thank you to HBO for inviting me to this amazing night! If you’d like to get in on future GIRLS events, make sure you’re following them on their new Tumblr page – they have a fantastic social media presence & usually use their platforms to announce events like these.
Season 3 of GIRLS starts this Sunday at 10pm on HBO. Will you be watching?
