Your Guide to Having a Dog in Philadelphia

When I was in 2nd grade, our class wrote and illustrated our own books that were later “published” (obviously). Mine was an adorably-obnoxious plea to my parents, titled “I Really Want A Puppy.” And I really, really did. Fast forward to just a few short years ago, when my sister finally #blessed our family with our first dog: Ellie. While Ellie lives back in NJ with my fam, I am her #1 tanta (which we think means aunt) and her city home. She’s not the best at the dog park, but she sometimes behaves in Anthro, so we forgive her.

Because of my posts with Ellie, I’ve gotten a lot of requests over the years to dive into some of the Philly dog-owner specifics. But don’t worry, I don’t think my faux-dog owning qualifies me to talk about any of this. Luckily, I’ve enlisted the pros: six Philly women, from all across the city, who own, care for, and love on some pups while living their daily city lady lives. I asked these ladies the same questions, and they came back with tips, recommendations, and stories about living with a dog in pet-friendly Philadelphia.

11 Philly Ladies Share Why They Love Their Neighborhoods

We’ve been talking a lot about the best Philly neighborhoods around here lately, and I love that. Whether you’re new to the city or have lived here forever, neighborhoods are something relevant to each and every one of us. I’ve shared my picks for my favorite Philly neighborhoods for new residents, but the fact is: there are so many other hoods Philly ladies just like you live in and love coming home to that are not on that list. So, to give you all a more inclusive look at what the city has to offer for young women, I reached out to some of my blogger buds, blog readers, and Twitter followers to share why they love their Philly hoods. {#HBDHerPhilly} Win a Chef’s Tasting Menu for Two!

We are so lucky to live in such a great city filled with fabulous restaurants, talented chefs, and amazing food. But when it seems like you’ll never run out of places to eat, how can you prioritize where to stop first? Well (if the menu doesn’t get you first) when a restaurant starts to win awards (and lots of them), you might be on the right track.

Chef’s Tasting Menu at High Street on Market

Checking off a restaurant that’s been “on your list” for awhile is a great thing, but what makes it even better is when that restaurant is everything you could have hoped for (and, hopefully, more). Last week, my friend Kelly and I ubered on down to Old City for dinner at High Street on Market (308 Market Street). I’ve been crushing on High Street since I had dinner at a.kitchen (135 South 18th Street) and was really impressed at Eli Kulp‘s ability to get me to eat things I wasn’t entirely sure I would like, or even fully know exactly what I was eating, to be honest (I am a disgrace . . . this is why I am not a food blogger).

Tonight was the best feeling of trying something n Tonight was the best feeling of trying something new. ⛳️ (I’m now looking up golf puns and I love how many have the word “putter” in them. 🥹🖤).

My gal pal @calisonx and I took a ladies beginner golf clinic at @linwoodcc tonight. We both had absolutely never played golf past mini golf on the boardwalk… so this was fun & new. The late summer weather was simply stunning & on top of that, our class included THREE glasses of wine. 😅🍷

It was fun to get a new outfit (duh) and be in a social place that’s not a bar. My dad thinks this is where I will meet my future husband so let’s all send me some good vibes for that. 😉

I’m excited to take another class & learn more. 🏌🏻‍♀️Are any of you golfing girls? Would love to hear your tips on how to get into it (and/or meet your husband at the golf course.) 😉

What a gorgeous Philly evening to welcome three Je What a gorgeous Philly evening to welcome three Jersey gals for a little theatre (thanks to @kimmelculturalcampus!). My mom, sister, and I met to see @thelionking at @academymusicphl and it was simply *phenomenal.*

We both found quick weeknight after 5pm parking at nearby lots ($16!) and had time for dinner & @vanleeuwenicecream before the play.

The show is better than you could ever expect - the actors are just so talented (especially young Simba & Nala! The best part was watching the little kidsss enjoy it, too (three little boys in front of us were raising their Simba doll merch up at the end- so unreal 🥹). The show is so worth seeing while it’s here (now through 9/10!).

A huge thanks to @kimmelculturalcampus for the beautiful Philly night out. 🖤

We ate a delicious lunch at @capitoline_ap. We had happy hour drinks at @lovehomesick & @thewonderbarofficial and just bebopped til we dropped on yesterday’s gorgeous August day.

I was wearing this @eloquii x @nuuly bright orange romper and definitely got a new photo for my @bumble (thx @linnybrice 😘).
