I seriously can not believe it is the end of freaking September. I just can’t. While I have had something to do outside of work every. single. day this month (resulting in approximately 14 loads of laundry I need to do, amongst other things), I do think the weeks ramping to fall are so fun. I love this season. My favorite perks include: the fact that it is now socially acceptable to wear tights, the many excuses to go shopping, and lots and lots of festivals. Because there are so many fun ones coming up (festivals, not tights), I’ve picked five of my favorites to share with you.
Pour The Core: Philly’s Hard Cider Festival
I am not a beer girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Blue Moon, but beyond the simplicity of a light beer, my interest stops right about there. My lack of enthusiasm for specialty beers becomes ever present every time I go to Tangier (1801 Lombard Street), Monk’s (264 South 16th Street), or Frankford Hall (1210 Frankford Avenue). How oh how can I get through this Philly girl life without having a few crafty go-to’s?
But then, I found my solution. After watching my friend Kenya order “cider” out at the bar time after time, I finally wised up and gave it a taste. Heck yes, I loved this stuff. Cider has become my go-to summer drink, and most specialty beer spots seem to carry a bottle or two. This breakthrough has made my journey through city life not caring much about craft beer much, much simpler.

If I loved cider in the summer, I can only imagine sipping on this yummy apple drink during the fall. So I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard about a Hard Cider Festival hitting Philly this month. Pour the Core is a new Philadelphia festival happening on September 28th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The event will take place at the Navy Yard and will feature over 30 ciders for sampling. Despite the abnormally large amount of carbohydrates I will be taking in that day, I absolutely can’t WAIT.

If you’re interested in going, I recommend picking up some tickets now. Tickets are available for $40 on Pour the Core’s website, but deal site Goldstar has tickets on sale for $25. I will be attending with some lady friends for a full out girls’ day, and I hope to see some of you there!
