5 Philly Ladies Share Their Favorite Philadelphia Restaurant Picks

It’s almost that time again: Center City District’s Philadelphia Restaurant Week is right around the corner (Saturday, September 23rd to Friday, October 5th to be exact)! In case you’re unfamiliar, CCDRW is a Philly tradition. Restaurants all over Center City offer prix-fixe menus (three-course lunch for $20 or three-course dinner for $35), giving diners a chance to try all the spots they’ve been meaning to get to, or even just discover a new restaurant because one dish caught their eye. It’s a really fun time to get out & explore Philly.

It’s been awhile since I covered Philadelphia Restaurant Week on the blog, so I knew I wanted to give you guys an updated take (with plenty of time to make your reservations, of course!). But even for me, my years of going out to a few dinners in a two week span have significantly dwindled (life, people!). So, in order to give you a fresh take, I asked five incredible Philadelphia women to give me their top picks instead!

Philly Girl Summer Life {2015}

Summer has been glorious so far; walking around during the 8:00 pm hour still surrounded by light is something I’ll never take for granted. Besides my California trip (more on that soon!), the two back-to-back sore throat bugs I’ve been hit with (speaking of: the new Jefferson Urgent Care – so quick!), I’ve been doing my fair share of fun things in the city, and I thought it was time to update you. I also realized I missed a spring update in my “Philly Girl Life” little series, so you guys are long overdue to hear some of my ramblings.

{Philadelphia Restaurant Week} Zahav

Living in this city, answering the “what’s your favorite restaurant?” question is a tough one. I mean, obviously we are extremely lucky that Philly is regarded as such a fabulous city for dining . . . but the judgement one could get for the wrong restaurant choice is pretty substantial.

Lucky for me, I have Zahav (237 Saint James Place). {Disclaimer: If you’re about to click through that link, please beware, the site has some groovy autoplay music that has startled me approximately 45 times this month alone.} I have loved Zahav since the first time I tried it, and it truly has yet to disappoint me since. I always go in craving my favorites, but come out in love with something I never thought I’d try.

Philly Girl Winter Life

Happy Tuesday! I truly have not been properly dealing with the cold this month, so the below updates will sure be a whole lot of digital, and for that, I am sorry. 😉 In case you haven’t seen it yet – something pretty darn cool happened to me this month: I was featured on CBSPhilly! I think Kristina did a great job summing up the blog and I am so grateful to be featured. So with that . . . on to the rest of the updates on this Philly girl’s winter life!

How To Conquer Philadelphia Restaurant Week

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Philadelphia Restaurant Week, but I am not one of them. I thoroughly enjoy any excuse to get out to some of my favorite places in Philly. Restaurant Week dinners become traditions amongst friends, simple date ideas, and an easy way to further explore our city. Several years and many $35 dinners later, I have figured out a few ways to get the most out of one of my favorite times of year.

A Philadelphia Celebrity Studded Week

While waiting for our table at Amada during last year’s Restaurant Week, I spotted my first Philly celebrity. It was Aneesa Ferreira, of MTV’s Real World Chicago & RW/RR Challenges. When I tell you I love the RW/RR challenges, I mean I LOVE them. So when I saw Aneesa, I freaked out. However, lucky for me (NOT), Jordan told me to leave her alone and let her enjoy her night. After debating this in my head, I decided not to say anything. Afterwards, I tweeted to her telling her I saw her and how fab she looked. She replied (obviously) with: why didn’t you come say hi?!

From that point on, I vowed to ALWAYS say hi. The worst that can happen is that they ignore me or call security, right?

Fast forward to one year later, Restaurant Week 2013, a week of not one, but TWO Philly celebrity sightings! And what sightings they were 🙂

Emily Tharp of Her Philly meets Mayor Michael Nutter First up, Mayor Michael Nutter! I have loved Mayor Nutter since I moved to Philly, but especially after hearing him speak at the SocialMediaPlus Summit in 2011. We have tweeted back and forth a few times since I became a Philadelphian, and those twitter interactions are definitely one of a few select stories my parents fall back on when they tell their friends what I “do.” He was SO nice to take a picture with me – it made my night!

Emily Tharp of Her Philly meets Philadelphia Flyers Player Scott Hartnell

Only a few days later, I was blessed with standing this close to these gorgeous locks, belonging to none other than Philadelphia Flyers player Scott Hartnell! I was never into hockey growing up, but after some games at the Wells Fargo Center, I was hooked. The Fly Guys have become my team, and I am dying to get to a game this season. Get well soon Scotty!

What famous Philadelphians have you run into over the years? Out of my two sightings, who would you have been more excited about? xx
