{Philly Pride} Your Go-To Weekend Shirt

If there’s one thing I have a hard time doing (well, there are many things, but today we’re only going to focus on one), it’s getting out the door fast. I wake up approximately an hour and 45 minutes before I need to leave for work every day, and still have a hard time getting out of my house on time. So naturally, when it’s the weekend and I need to get moving quickly – whether it be to meet a friend for breakfast at Little Pete’s or get some quick errands out of the way – I always struggle making the “roll out of bed look” look chic. Leggings & a hoodie? Too casual. Cardi & a t-shirt? Too much coordination. I am constantly teetering on the edge of comfort + cuteness, and can’t really ever seem to get it right. What’s a Philly girl to do?

Enter the classic flannel shirt – your new “roll out of bed” chic BFF. Duluth Trading Co. recently contacted me with their clever “Flannelytics” findings (always love a good branded PR campaign) and shared that our own Philadelphia is the sixth “most flannel” city in the US. The whole report was amazingly creative, and I really appreciated how they paid special attention to the things that made each city awesome. I personally enjoyed the fact that Philly fans prefer flannel over chest hair, because, you know, those are our men. And we love them, chest hair and all.

Duluth Trading Company Flannels PhiladelphiaWhile we can assume most of the existing Philly flannelites are not young women in their 20’s wearing their flannels out to breakfasts and TD Bank runs (to get $20 in quarters for their expensive apartment washer/dryers), I think it’s time we broke the mold & ran with this classic go-to shirt. To help me embrace my inner Philly flannel girl, Duluth Trading Co. sent me one of their Women’s Free Swingin’ Flannel Shirts to try myself, and I’m pretty obsessed.

Women's Free Swingin' Flannel Shirt This shirt, which comes in seven plaids, is comfortable, yet structured & really well made, perfect for putting on with leggings and riding boots and feeling put together. They also have a ton of other women’s button-down shirts, for the times when you can’t deal with layers and just need one simple piece. My favorite way to wear my flannel (they’re warm!) has been under a puffy down vest with dark skinny jeans and boots. Simple, cute and I’m out the door. I’ll see you at the bank 😉

{Philadelphia Shopping Experience} Prabal Gurung For Target®

I am not a huge fan of Target collections. In the past, I have scoured the internet and visited the stores for styles with quality that made me less than excited. But this morning was different.

When I woke up at 7:45 this morning, I wasn’t even thinking about Prabal Gurung For Target. But after seeing a tweet from Gabi Gregg, I decided to hop on target.com to take a peek at the pieces. I was impressed, but as with every Target collection, quality is hard to tell online. I decided that I was up for the day and headed down to Target (1 Mifflin Street) at 8:30 am.

The store wasn’t crowded, but there were definitely plenty of young women wandering around with their stash of brightly colored pieces. I walked (ran) immediately to the display and started grabbing. When I was there at 8:30, I did not see many pieces below a size 6. Lucky for me, my size was there in almost everything I wanted. I did ask the really sweet dressing room attendant if she had a dress on the rack to put back in my size, and she did! Lucky lucky.

The dressing rooms had a short wait but nothing major. I tried on 9 pieces and loved almost everything. The fit was great for curvier women, and the only major flop for me was the peplum top. The quality was some of the best I’ve seen from a Target collection, and other than a few lackluster zippers, I was really happy with it. I was in and out in an hour, and when I left, there were still plenty of items on the racks. I did not check out the accessories or shoes, but based on the clothing display, I’d say you still have a good shot of finding some pieces.

Check out the goodies I picked up:

I was literally grinning with excitement while trying on each of these pieces. Definite scores. There were two honorable mentions that I hemmed and hawed over for a bit, but decided not to go with. If you’re interested in the dress, I recommend sizing up.

Are you headed down to the Philadelphia Target this morning for the Prabal Gurung collection? What pieces are you most excited about? Tell me, because I need someone to discuss this with other than my boyfriend…. 🙂 xx

We adopted a puppy!!! 🖤 Meet Putter. He was born in January in Mississippi, and brought to PA with his mom & siblings for adoption by @tlcrescuepa.

I had been applying to rescue a pup for almost a year, so I am so thankful to @tlcrescuepa for giving us a shot. We brought Putter home 4/26/22. 🥰

Putter is fitting into our family so well, and we are loving watching him grow and learn new things. Jim & I are taking him to puppy class every Saturday and we are excited to learn more ourselves!

I could spam you with a million pictures but I created an Insta for the baby so I don’t go overboard here. 😂 You can follow @putterthepuppy to see more of our small boy. 🥹
The last night of @linnytharp’s Philly bachelore The last night of @linnytharp’s Philly bachelorette was such a joy it deserves its own post. 🚃

I have talked about the @foundingfootsteps tours for years. The owner, Tim, is such an asset to the Philly community, and I was excited to support his company for our ladies night out. 💃🏻

I booked us the Beer & Bands trolley tour. We (the 8 of us and 3 sweet younger gals) got picked up at Betsy Ross house with our BYO @highnoonsunsips and singing voices ready. 🎶

The trolley comes equipped with musicians and an amazing driver (shoutout Koser, Nate & Justin!) and takes you on a drive throughout the city, while the musicians play Britney Spears, BSB, & other assorted covers. Though we did make several suggestions to add more Taylor songs into rotation. 😉

The windows are open and we were loudly singing along, so early on, in our drunken happiness, we decided to start waving to people out the window. Once we started getting a few waves back, it became the sole focus of the night, singing and seeing how many waves we could secure (it was a 95% wave-back rate).

We laughed and sang and just had the most fun tour ever. The tour also stops at a brewery or two (hence that part of the name), we stopped at @victorytaproom_phl on ours, but we were mostly happy to be waving on the trolley. 😂

I can’t recommend @foundingfootsteps for your next girls night out enough. 🖤
Part 2 of my sister’s #PhillyBachelorette ✨ O Part 2 of my sister’s #PhillyBachelorette ✨

Our Saturday bachelorette day started off with breakfast at our @airbnb (@hot_bagels brought by @caitlyn22b were the star). We made some drinks and headed to @oldcityphilly for our surprise (to @linnytharp) @airbnbexperiences tour - “Hamilton - The Tour Where it Happens!”

Lindsay is a big @hamiltonmusical fan and this was an absolutely hysterical way for us to spend the afternoon. Our tour guide, Reid, brought along a speaker and played/rapped along to several Hamilton tracks on the streets of Philly. We learned a lot about the true Hamilton story and had just so, so much fun.

After the tour, we got a drink at @theploughphilly and bopped over to @luchacartelphilly for a seriously delicious dinner & margs. Our night event deserves its own post, so more on that in the final Bach post! 😉
